Denture Care

How to care for your dentures and what to expect as you settle into wearing them.

📞 Call With Any Concerns

What to Expect

Adjustment Period

New dentures take time to feel natural. Most patients adapt within 4–8 weeks. Initial soreness and altered speech is common.

Sore Spots

Some areas may rub initially. Contact us for an adjustment — do not leave sore spots untreated.

Eating

Start with soft foods and cut food into small pieces. Chew slowly and evenly on both sides. Gradually introduce harder foods.

Caring for Your Dentures

Dentures typically need relining or replacing every 5–8 years as the shape of your jaw changes over time. Annual check-ups allow us to monitor the fit.
Contact us to schedule a reline or adjustment. A loose denture can cause sore spots and difficulty eating. Do not use excessive adhesive as a long-term solution.
It is generally recommended to remove dentures overnight. This gives your gums a chance to rest and reduces the risk of gum irritation and bone loss.
